Pearl Necklace New England Motor
Yacht Charter
Built in 1957 as an original Geerd Hendel design, Pearl Necklace
was a husband's gift to his wife who had requested a simple strand
of pearls for their anniversary. The motor yacht charter was built
in Maine at Camden Shipyards, one of America's premier yards at
the time. Painstakingly crafted of double planked mahogany on cedar
and powered by four diesels, she was one of the fastest privately
owned yachts of her size, making better than 24 knots. Rumor has
it that many of a sunny Cape Cod afternoon was whiled away watching
Pearl Necklace race Jack Kennedy's Marlin or the Hyannisport ferry
out on Buzzard's Bay. Historically significant, she has hosted business,
political and socialite figures and made a variety of TV and film
appearances.
Fully restored and those exciting days but a memory, Pearl Necklace
is now offered for charter as one of New England's best-loved classic
motoryachts.
USCG Certified, she carries up to 49 guests in stabilized comfort
with uniformed, first class service; providing a unique and elegant
setting that captures the splendor of a bygone era. A professional,
congenial crew of 3 promises you a memorable day on the water.
It's motor yacht charter business is upscale private parties, corporate
functions, dinners, weddings, ash scatterings, spectator/sponsor
yacht for sailboat races, etc. The boat has been chartered for movies,
commercials, TV shows and photo shoots .... Pearl Necklace is chartered
by the hour.
"... teak decks, brass fittings, varnished trim and traditional
appointments highlight the distinguished features of this lovely
classic ..."
The covered Quarterdeck, with its teak and wicker furnishings,
is ideal for dining al fresco. The foredeck and after cockpit provide
plenty of open deck space for lounging and sunning as the shoreline
slowly slips by.
Down below, in the main saloon is the bar area, another large dining
table and buffet space which hosts anything from cocktails and hors
d'oeuvres to casual dinner parties.
Built for speed, the New England motor yacht has a planning hull
although since being repowered in '92, she no longer travels at
planing speed. Her powerplant is a 10kw generator and 3000 watt
inverter. Her draft is 4 1/2 feet. 71 feet long, 16 1/2 feet wide
and weighs about 60 tons. Her hull is double planked mahogany over
cedar and her deck and superstructure is teak.
Pearl Necklace carries 900 gallons of fuel and 500 gallons of water.
Her engines are (now) 2 GM 671 Diesels, approximately 250 hp each.
In the past she had 4 of these and 1000hp. The yacht is heated and
A/C throughout. Pear Necklace maintains crew's quarters forward
for 3 crew. These include head and shower.
Back aft in the sleeping cabins, are two queen-sized staterooms
with ensuite heads. They share a shower between them.
